Foreword

Dear Parents & Guardians,

A very warm welcome to Newmarket Boys’ School. We hope that your child will be extremely happy throughout his eight years with us.

In this section, you will find links to parent related websites as well as information on our Parents’ Association.

In promoting your child’s education at this young age, the school believes it is vital to build strong partnerships with parents and the local community. Children’s learning should ideally be a partnership between home and school in a whole school context and to achieve this, good communication between home and school is essential and is actively encouraged. In our 2006 WSE school evaluation report, it was identified by the inspectorate that ‘One of the cornerstones of the school’s success is the provision it makes for good communication with parents’ and ‘It is evident that there is a genuine and rich partnership between the school and the parent body’. Children spend the vast majority of their learning time at home and we will do our best to ensure that the time they spend in school with us will enable your child to achieve as best he can.

Parents are encouraged to participate in school life through a wide range of activities and pupils love to see their own parents involved with the school, a place where they spend so much of their day and week. It doesn’t matter if it’s attending a workshop, helping in a literacy initiative or doing a job to help in the school. They just see it as their Mom or Dad who was in their school. Our school is a happy and a safe place where each child matters to us. Should you have any query or concerns at any stage, we would appreciate if you would come and talk to us in the first instance. Parents are always welcome to make an appointment to meet with their child’s teacher or the Principal to discuss your child’s progress or any concerns you may have. We look forward to working in partnership with you in the interest of your child’s overall learning and personal development.
