Discussion Rang 5-6

In Discussion writing or Class Discussion, it is important to present different points of view about a topic. It is important that correct information and evidence to support both points of view are provided. It is important to introduce your topic in the opening paragraph. In addition to this, you should discuss the the positives and negatives of your topic. Finally, you should have a conclusion to sum up your points of view.

Persuasive Rang 5-6

The purpose of persuasive writing is to argue a particular point of view and to encourage the reader or listener to believe the same point of view. Firstly, you introduce your topic with an opening statement that sums up the viewpoint. Secondly, you argue your case using strong, emotional language. It is very important to look at and address your audience. It is also very important to use facts and points of evidence to support your argument. In conclusion, you should finish with a closing statement that gives your own personal point of view to sum up your point of view.

Recount Writing

When you’re writing a recount story, you should recall a list of events that happened in the past in chronological order. The reader should know when events happened, who was there and what happened. It is recommended that you should use connectives to improve a story. Paragraphs are essential. In short, there should be an introduction, an order of events and a conclusion.

Report Writing

Report writing is a way of proving information about the way things are or were. It is a factual account. It is very important that the information is provided in an organised fashion.
Firstly, you begin with a general sentence or paragraph to introduce the report and it should be very clear what you are writing about. Paragraph headings such as Who? What? When? Where? can be used. In addition, you give a detailed description describing the topic. Descriptive language is very important here to compare and contrast your topic. Finally, you can conclude with your own personal opinion on the topic.

Report writing gives the reader information on objects, people, animals and places. It helps us to understand what is being described, by organising information. Examples of reports include book reviews, film reviews, newspaper articles, music, holidays, History and Geography.

The first paragraph should be very clear on what the report is about. Description is very important in report writing. It helps us to visualise  the subject.  When planning to write a report, it’s important to gather information on the subject’s habits, location and behaviour. The report should be written in the present tense and in the past tense for a historical report.

Finally, read and check the report as if you know very little about the subject. Make sure the report is in the proper order and is very clear.

Narrative Rang 5-6

Narrative writing is a story or  account of events and experiences. It can be fictional or factual. It allows you and your imagination to express yourself. .It is important to plan your story and decide who? what? where? when? and why? There should be a beginning, middle and an end to your story. It should be written in the past tense and in the first or third person.
