Report writing is a way of proving information about the way things are or were. It is a factual account. It is very important that the information is provided in an organised fashion.
Firstly, you begin with a general sentence or paragraph to introduce the report and it should be very clear what you are writing about. Paragraph headings such as Who? What? When? Where? can be used. In addition, you give a detailed description describing the topic. Descriptive language is very important here to compare and contrast your topic. Finally, you can conclude with your own personal opinion on the topic.

Report writing gives the reader information on objects, people, animals and places. It helps us to understand what is being described, by organising information. Examples of reports include book reviews, film reviews, newspaper articles, music, holidays, History and Geography.
The first paragraph should be very clear on what the report is about. Description is very important in report writing. It helps us to visualise the subject. When planning to write a report, it’s important to gather information on the subject’s habits, location and behaviour. The report should be written in the present tense and in the past tense for a historical report.
Finally, read and check the report as if you know very little about the subject. Make sure the report is in the proper order and is very clear.
