Some feathered visitors to Newmarket B.N.S.

School Tours are the best because you get to participate in lots of activities, you can eat lots of sweets, you can hang out with your friends and most importantly there is no school.
Yesterday we went on our school tour to the University of Limerick. We went on a water slide, swimming, played soccer, archery, the wrecking ball, an obstacle course, twiser, bouncing castles and played water games. All these activities were brilliant and this is why we think School Tours are wonderful.
School Tours are brilliant and we can’t wait for next year to go somewhere new and exciting.

Please look in the Gallery under School Trips to see pictures from our Tour.
We would give this tour 5*.
We would like to congratulate all the boys who participated in the first Con Twomey Memorial Cup on the 7th of June 2015. Special Congratulations to the winning team members of Newmarket B.N.S. including Hugh O’Connor, Ethan Hourigan, Ben O’Doherty, Troy O’Donoghue, Alan McCarthy, Dara Weathers, Brion O’Keeffe, Colin O’ Leary and Tyler O’Donoghue.
The boys displayed fantastic hurling skills to qualify for and ultimately win the final against Croke Rovers. These skills are honed and developed in the school by M. Eamon and the school goes from strength to strength each year. All sports and activities are valued here in Newmarket B.N.S. In the past year we have been awarded the Active Flag which is testament to our belief and dedication in staying fit and healthy and participating in sport.
True enjoyment comes from activity of the mind and exercise of the body; the two are ever united.

We believe that chocolate should not be banned as we need it to celebrate important occasions and as a treat. We feel that broccoli on your birthday would not be the same.
Chocolate is marvelous and it tastes like heaven. Many people work in jobs that involve chocolate such as chocolate factories and sweet shops. However, there is a lot of sugar in chocolate and this can affect your body, teeth and your blood sugar.
Chocolate is amazing and it should not be banned but people should not eat too much of it.
Grammar Point:
Factory becomes factories in the plural as it ends in a consonant-y (ry).
If a word ends in a vowel-y such as donkey (ey), you just add s, (donkeys)
Rang I & Rang II
The Active School Flag is a whole school initiative and as such all members of the school community should be made aware that the school is interested in and working towards achieving the ASF. This might be achieved in the following ways:
• Put the Active School Flag on the agenda for a planning day/staff meetings
• Use class assemblies to inform all the pupils about the process.
• Notify the Parents’ Association and Board of Management.
• Include information about the Active School Flag in parental newsletters.
• Contact the Local Sports Partnership Coordinator and HSE Health Promotion
Officer/Physical Activity Coordinator for the area to make them aware of that your school is working towards the Active School Flag.
• Discuss the initiative with National Governing Bodies that may be working in the school.
• Create an Active School Flag notice board.
• Designate a section of the school website to Active School Flag news so that the whole school community can be kept up to date with progress.
