Christmas

We celebrate Christmas on the 25th of December. That was the day that Jesus was born in a stable in Bethlehem. His mom Mary and dad Joseph were there and people came to see the new baby. Three wise men followed a star and three shepherds came to see him too. We love Jesus because he taught us all about God.

At Christmas people decorate their homes with lots of decorations and lights. They put up a Christmas tree and a crib. Families spend lots of time together over Christmas and they visit relatives and friends. On Christmas Day we eat turkey and ham for dinner. Santa comes with lots of presents! The chimney needs to be cleaned before Santa comes. Boys and girls leave out carrots for the reindeer, and cookies and a drink for Santa. We go to mass to celebrate the birth of the baby Jesus.

Acrostic poem about ‘Santa’

Santa brings us presents,

And his elves are very busy,

North Pole is his home,

The reindeer fly through the sky

And everyone is really happy!

Daniel O’Connell

Daniel O Connell was a famous man in Irish history. He brought Catholic Emancipation to Ireland in the year of 1828.
Daniel O’ Connell was born in Kerry in 1775. His parents were poor so they sent him to live with his uncle in Derryadane. His uncle sent him to France to be educated. During that time he saw a lot of bloodshed during the French revolution. This turned him against bloodshed forever! He returned to Ireland to study law and in 1798 he became a barrister. In 1800, the act of union was passed and in 1824 Catholic rent was organised and the cost per week was 1p. In 1828, Daniel was elected as an MP for co. Clare. In 1828 Catholic Emancipation was granted. In 1841, became the first Catholic lord mayor of Dublin since the reformation. In 1847, the worst year of the famine he died in Genoa in Italy on his way to Rome. Just before he died he said he wanted his heart to be taken to Rome and for his body to be buried in Ireland.
In my opinion, he was a great man but as long as he lived he never forgave himself for killing a man in a duel.

A Happy poem!

Happy tastes like warm toast,

Happy looks like friends playing,

Happy smells like flowers,

Happy feels like cuddling a puppy,

Happy sounds like singing birds.

Thainig mé isteach agus thainig na buchaillí in éineacht liom. Rinné Mamaí seachlaid té, bhí an-spórt againn.
Ni dheanfaidh mé dearmad ar an lá sin go deo na ndeor.
