The Mighty Knight!

There once was a knight,
Who liked to fight,
He wore black tights,
That fit just right.
He faught at midnight
When the light was just right,
That’s our story about a brave young knight!

Our version of Hey Diddle Diddle….

Hey Diddle Diddle, the cat lost the fiddle
A mouse was eating the moon,
A little dog barked to see such nonsense
And the dish went a-hiding with the spoon !

France

France is the largest country in Western Europe in area. The capital of France is Paris. The language is French. Their national anthem is La Marseillaise. The French flag is a tri-colour like Ireland except the colours are red, white and blue. King Louis XVI used the colours to represent France.

Some of their tourist attractions are the Eiffel Tower, The Louvre and the French Alps, where people go to ski. Marseilles is a really old city.
France is famous for its cookery; lots of French words are used in English cookery. France is also famous for its wine. Limestone caves were used as wine cellars during the two World Wars.
France is good at soccer and won the world cup in 1998. There are many famous French footballers like Eric Cantona, Thierry Henry, Samuel Nasri, Bacary, Sanga, Patrice Evra and Hugo Llores.
I hope to visit France some day.

Springer Spaniel

The Springer spaniel is a medium sized dog and they were originally bred for hunting birds. Many people buy Springer spaniels for hunting but they also make fantastic family pets.

These dogs normally come in two colour patterns for example black and white or brown and white plus they have long hairy ears.

Springer Spaniels are full of energy and they are very gentle and loving.

They need loads of attention and exercise and they are brilliant with children.

Springer Spaniels are a very health dog and they will eat almost anything, they are easy to look after and all they need is a place to run around and play, ideally their owners need to spend a lot of time with there Springer spaniel as they can get lonely.

I think springer spaniels are fun to play with.

Cork City Gaol

Yesterday we went on a school tour to Cork City Gaol. We travelled by bus and it was great fun.
We went to the governor’s office and he was writing in a big book.  There was a picture of Queen Victoria and big keys.  We went out to the hall and saw a weighing  scales  which they used to weigh the prisoners to see if they had lost weight.
We also saw lots of models of prisoners and wardens.  One wing had women and children and the other wing was for men.  The prisoners had to eat very small portions of food. Then some of us locked our classmates into a cell.  The cells were very dirty and the beds were very uncomfortable.  Then we moved onto the women’s section and we saw a big model of the whole gaol.
They had a hospital behind the gaol and in front of the hospital they had an exercise yard for the prisoners.
Then when we were leaving they showed us a video about what life was like in Cork City Gaol.
