New Era on the Horizon for Newmarket education

The Boards of Management of Newmarket Boys’ and Girls’ Schools happily wish to announce formally that the two schools will amalgamate for the 2025/2026 school year. The name of the newly amalgamated co-ed school (boys and girls) will be Scoil na Tríonóide and will be under the patronage of the Bishop of Cloyne, William Crean.

The Junior campus of this new school will be at the current Girls’ School located at Pound Hill and, and will accommodate pupils from Junior Infants to 2nd class. The Senior campus of Scoil na Tríonóide will be located at the current Boys’ School at the West End, and will accommodate pupils from 3rd to 6th class.

As part of this new development, the National Council for Special Education (NCSE) has granted us a Special Class, operational from the new school year (Sept 2025). Expressions of interest for enrolment in any of the classes in Scoil na Tríonóide for ‘25/’26 or ’26/’27 school years can be made to:

Ms Mary Rea at 029 60723 (junior classes) or Ms Christine O’Mahony at 029 60956 (senior classes), or for the Special Class to Any of the above, by February 28th at 12 noon

Education has been provided for boys at this location for over 157 years; with an official school structure built in 1877 and the current building in 1970. Our school serves the wider communities of Newmarket, Taur and surrounding areas.     At present, we have nearly 100 pupils enrolled and 9 staff members.

Our School Vision is based upon the principles of Enjoyment, Potential, Inclusion and Community – working together to improve our children’s holistic development.  This is explained further in our ‘EPIC’ statement on our School Vision page.
